Are you interested in being your own boss? Do you demonstrate strong leadership skills and enjoy taking charge? If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be looking into joining the Hillman Entrepreneurs Program here at Montgomery College.  This program is for future entrepreneurs and is a scholarship opportunity for all students that are searching for ways to give back to their communities, while simultaneously working for their futures. This program is open to all transferable majors who start off at Montgomery College and plan on finishing at the University of Maryland, College Park. The goal of the Hillman Program is to support, develop and graduate virtuous students that aspire to become successful entrepreneurs. The eligibility requirements are as follows:

1.         Must be a Maryland resident with U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.

2.         Must be pursuing their first Bachelor’s degree.

3.         Must Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

4.         Must have completed a minimum of 24 credits and a maximum of 42 credits.

5.         Should be in pursuit of a program of study that is transferable to UMCP.

6.         Should have successfully taken (or currently be enrolled in) at least one math course that is transferable to UMCP.

So why should you join this program? Scholarship assistance covers up to two-thirds of tuition fees and book funds for Hillman Entrepreneurs. Program participants also receive one-on-one advising and mentoring, the chance to develop entrepreneurial/leadership skills and amazing internship opportunities.

To apply for this scholarship, students should complete an online application at www.Montgomerycollege.edu/hillmanprogram. Along with completing the online application, students should submit a resume that includes extracurricular activities and recent work. Students should also request a letter of recommendation from a professor, employer or community leader who can discuss the student’s potential success in the HEP. The last step in the application process is to submit a completed FAFSA form.
