The Mechanical Bull Returns to Germantown
A new tradition to take hold at Montgomery College Germantown: riding a mechanical bull.
And this risky business is a challenge some MC-G students were ready to take heads on. To end Welcome Week at Germantown campus, students had the opportunity September 5 to ride a mechanical bull.
The mechanical bull was set up for students to ride in front of the High Technology and Science Center.
Natalie Brenace and Manny Santino De La Rosa, both MC Germantown students, took on the challenge because “it looked like fun.” After the experience, they both agreed that it was “fun but challenging.”
For MC-G students, Sheila Amini and Luis Montez, this was not their first time riding a mechanical bull. Sheila had ridden a bull for after-prom in high school. Luis Montez also is the record holder from last year’s Welcome Week with two minutes.
When asked these four students if they would get on the mechanical bull again, each one said yes.
The mechanical bull is situated on an inflatable mattress and is controlled by a qualified operator in order to ensure students’ safety. Signing a waiver is also mandatory before riding the bull. If you did not ride the mechanical bull this year, Welcome Week 2015 may be your chance to take the challenge. The bull will be waiting.
