The Hillman Entrepreneurs Program at Montgomery College

Do you want a career where you can serve your local community? The Hillman Entrepreneurs Program (HEP) at Montgomery College is an educational scholarship program for up-and-coming entrepreneurs who are searching for ways to give back to their resident communities. The goal of the Program is to support, develop, and graduate virtuous students who aspire to become successful entrepreneurs.
HEP provides students with summer internship opportunities, entrepreneurial/leadership skills, and one-on-one advising and mentoring. This program is open to all MC students who are pursuing transferable majors and who plan on finishing at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). You qualify if you:
- Are a Maryland resident with U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status
- Are pursuing your first Bachelor’s degree
- Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Have completed 24-42 credits
- Are pursing a program of study that is transferable to UMCP
- Have successfully taken (or currently be enrolled in) at least one math course that is transferable to UMCP.
Students who are selected to participate in this program are expected to transfer to the University of Maryland, College Park to pursue a Bachelor’s degree. There, students will continue to receive 66% of scholarship assistance for tuition, books, and a $1,000 merit scholarship.
To apply for this scholarship, students should complete an online application at www.Montgomerycollege.edu/hillmanprogram. Along with the online application, students should submit a resume that includes extracurricular activities and recent work. Students should also request a letter of recommendation from a professor, employer, or community leader who can discuss the student’s potential success in the HEP. The last step in the application process is to submit a completed FAFSA form. The application deadline is May 1, 2013, so apply NOW!
